PDF Printer Free is very small but useful software tool whose function is to allow you to convert any document or file made through any application into a PDF file, by using a virtual printer driver in your system.
The program is very light and easy to install, though if you do not have the Ghostscript engine installed in your system, you will be required to do so beforehand. Once you have it all installed, every time you send a document to this virtual printer, a window will pop up - you can use this to configure all the necessary parameters in order to generate the appropriate PDF file. These options may include the document’s metadata, an optional password, whether to compress the resulting file or not, and even its version. Another very important feature of the program is the possibility of creating profiles, which means that you can save certain sets of parameters with a profile name, so that you can easily select that specific configuration every time you need it. I must mention that many of this configuration window’s tabs are disabled in this free version. There is also a commercial version where all options in all tabs are enabled.
Pros
- Very simple to use
- Light
- System wide
Cons
- Many options have been disabled for the free version
